Cashing In On People Who Unsubscribe From Your Newsletter
One of the practices Ive always done and I think you should also do is
Never letting a web user hit a dead end with anything you send them to do.
Lets say for example they visit your website and press the back button, they should get something, a pop-up to subscribe to your newsletter or a related offer that tries to keep their attention.
A good example of this is people who unsubscribe from your newsletter. Where do they go after they unsubscribe? Well, not a dead end if you dont let them.
Heres what I do
All autoresponders should have a link you can set where unsubscribers go when they unsubscribe. Usually it defaults to the autoresponders website that says youve been unsubscribed.
Theres many different things you can do with this traffic. Heres a few:
1. Setup a poll to ask the reason why they are leaving. I usually setup a comment box and ask, then once I get some feedback I take the top 4 reasons and put them into a poll. This will tell me WHY people are leaving, this is very valuable information to have.
Some reasons people give you might be surprising.
2. Send them through an affiliate link to a related product they might be interested in. So if your autoresponder series was say an eBay course on how to make money on ebay then you could send them to an affiliate product that sells something related to that.
3. You could build a resource page with related information to the topic and send them there. This could be like a hot products page or the like.
Whatever you do with this traffic just remember if youre using Adsense to make money that this might be against the TOS. I know you arent supposed to use Adsense ads in pop-up windows or thank you pages, so this is pretty close to those.
