Olive oil is a good addition to a healthy diet. The reason for this is it contains a good combination of both Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. They are necessary for a strong immune system that will enable the body to fight against many diseases. There are other healthy benefits to be had from olive oil.

Olive oil is widely used in the Mediterranean diet. It is easily digested and good for people with sensitive stomachs and has no adverse effects. Olive oil Omega 3 can be used for cooking as well. It adds flavor and texture to foods.

The benefits of olive oil include the following: the prevention of cardiac disease, the lowering of blood pressure, lowering triglycerides, lowering bad cholesterol levels. It has been said to prevent colon cancer. It also helps to manage the formation of kidney and gallstones.

A variety of olive oils are available in most grocery stores. They include extra virgin, virgin, pure, and extra light oils. Extra virgin and virgin olive oils are the most beneficial since they contain the natural taste and freshness of the olive fruit.

Olive oil is excellent when used as a salad dressing as well as for use in other dishes. It can be taken in its raw form as well. Care should be taken with any plant oil including olive oil not to take too much of it at once because a quick drop in blood pressure could result causing health problems.

People with high blood pressure and high cholesterol can benefit from its use. Olive oil Omega 3 also can help with weight loss. Taking olive oil in some form on a regular basis can be a wonderful asset to a healthy diet.

Omega 3 supplements that are from plant sources such as olive and flaxseed oils to purified fish oils from salmon, herring, mackerel, and sardines to name a few.
